Shipping & Receiving Coordinator 1
The Position (Summary)
The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator 1 will be responsible for ensuring the processing and forwarding of merchandise as well as preparing merchandise to be returned to suppliers or delivered to customers.
Minimum Essential Requirements
- Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment
- Compare identifying information and counts, weights, or measurements of items on incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
- Become a functional user of the company’s ERP System to make all required shipping and receiving transactions in an efficient manner
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment
- Build wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers accurately and efficiently
- Insert items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
- Nail covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal or poly banding, using strapping tools
- Post weight, dimensions, and box type
- Routinely route incoming items to the appropriate departments
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet current company specifications
- Maintain inventory accuracy of shipping materials and supplies
- Operate overhead crane, forklift/tow motor, pallet jack or hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
- Ensure visitors (truck drivers, delivery personnel, etc.) are issued safety vests, glasses, visitor badges, and safety footwear
- Able to read a tape measure and to operate all types of pneumatic tools
- Able to have a clean driving record to deliver parts to our outside vendors operating the company vehicle
- Able to work overtime as needed
Preferred Key Requirements
- Inventory System experience
- Knowledge of international shipments
- Ability to read basic blueprints
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as weight proportions and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Experience with Shipping and Receiving in a manufacturing environment
Experience And Education
- Experience: 2+ years’ experience with Shipping and Receiving in a manufacturing environment
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; or relevant job-specific experience
Communication
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication
Technology
- Effective use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
