About the role
A Shipping and Receiving Clerk verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, and ensures proper control of the parts inventory and related administrative functions.
Responsibilities
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Ensure that outgoing shipments meet specifications.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
- Receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment (Returned Goods).
- Receive unsold products returned by Parts Manager.
- Place daily parts orders.
- Assist Parts Manager in processing weekly stock orders.
- Ensure that unused “foreign parts” are returned to vendors.
- Remove returned parts from inventory after credit is received.
- Return cores in a timely manner and follow for receipt of credit.
- Provide necessary information to the warranty department to allow prompt filing of parts warranties.
- File company copies of parts counter invoices.
- Assist counterpeople with check and credit card processing when available.
- Take messages for Parts counterpeople and Parts Manager when they are unable to answer the phone.
- Keep parts office area clean.
- Assist back counterpeople with technicians’ requests for parts and charging parts onto Repair Order.
- Add new parts to inventory in proper bin location.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- Ability to interpret vendor catalogs, use parts department computer system, calculator, and motor vehicle.
- Ability to use mechanical tools such as crimpers, pliers, wrenches, and tape measure.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a drug and background screening.
