Duties & Responsibilities
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils.
- Selects preassembled containers or assembles cardboard containers.
- Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
- Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
- Unpacks and records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Performs receiving, stocking, pallet consolidation.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Schedules and coordinates delivery of products to customers.
- Manages material order and labeling of packages.
- Communicates with vendors and drivers to ensure smooth operations.
- Supports safety practices by wearing PPE, following SOPs, and reporting incidents.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Sorting incoming and outgoing stock.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, sense of time organization, and urgency.
- Able to work independently and within a team.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of all customer methods of shipment.
- Self-motivated.
- 3+ years of experience in a shipping and receiving role.
- No supervisory responsibilities.
Work/Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Experience operating a pallet jack.
