TK Elevator is seeking an experienced Shipping/Receiving Clerk in Byhalia, MS.
Responsibilities
- Prepare orders for freight, sort freight into subplants, express, or parcel post shipments in accordance with shipping practices and requirements.
- Assemble and check orders, pack and crate items, and attach or stencil shipping instructions.
- Enter receiving slips into the computer for any material delivered and create labels for each box.
- Stack materials on skids by delivery area.
- Ensure packing lists, bills of lading, express receipts, and other systems are correctly entered into the computer.
- Manually load and unload trucks and freight cars when necessary.
- Visually analyze and verify correct weights of items on bills of lading and express tickets.
- Receive oral and written instructions and follow them through to completion.
- Accurately prepare daily shipping reports.
- Receive and sign for materials, verifying count and description; enter receiving tickets into the computer.
- Use the barcode system to enter and ship transactions, including operating scan guns, printers, and label machines.
- Receive training and obtain certifications for the proper operation of overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Maintain overhead and forklift certifications.
- Work shift work, overtime, and weekend work as required.
- Perform other assignments as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One or more years of work experience in a lean/continuous improvement environment preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends.
- General mechanical experience maintaining equipment preferred.
- General organizational and time management skills.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
