Shipping Receiving Clerk

Essential Duties

• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shippers to rectify damages and shortages.
• Places identifying information on the material upon arrival at the plant site.
• Routes items to inventory.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• May operate industrial lift truck or uses tractor truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments to storage or work area.
• Maintains traffic flow through the white yard and assists in staging shipments for outbound loads.
• Affords assistance in stacking lumber or moving products by hand as needed.

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
