About the role
This position is an exciting, fast-paced, and challenging job in St. Louis that requires versatility and flexibility. As a Shipping/Receiving Clerk, you will interact with a wide variety of people across all departments of the St. Louis facility, both inside and outside the plant. The successful candidate must demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities within a reasonable trial period determined by the Supervisor and Area Manager.
This role reports to the Supply Chain Manager and operates onsite on the 2nd shift.
Responsibilities
- Follow all ABB safety policies, complete safety training, and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, cut-resistant gloves, and safety sleeves.
- Inspect and ensure equipment is in proper working order prior to operating.
- Lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; frequently grip, turn, push, bend, reach above shoulder level, and pull; sit and/or stand for extended periods in hot and cold environments while maintaining pace with demanding production requirements.
- Operate various forklifts and equipment including electric chain hoists, forklift, Bigfoot, electric and manual pallet jacks, and controls with buttons; obtain forklift operator license.
- Fill in for production forklift driver as needed.
- Load trucks legally in compliance with Federal regulations by calculating weights accurately.
- Demonstrate self-motivation and ability to work independently; effectively communicate with supervisors, managers, other plants, freight companies, tool room personnel, and coworkers.
- Comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Read, write, and use a computer; understand production orders, schedules, and special instructions.
- Complete inspections as required; accurately fill out manifests and bills of lading.
- Perform a variety of complex shipping and receiving tasks.
- Maintain regular work attendance, including arriving on time and remaining at work until the end of the scheduled workday.
- Demonstrate reliability and commitment to scheduled work hours; work daily and weekend overtime, including overtime on short notice, to meet operational demands.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $23.34 - $29.59 (includes shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shifts).
