About the role
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for providing administrative and operational support for the shipping and receiving office within our warehouse operation. This role plays an active part in coordinating driver activity, preparing and dispatching loads, and reviewing and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to communicate professionally with both internal teams and customers.
Responsibilities
- Utilize WMS to audit parts for delivery routes
- Identify, investigate, and correct route discrepancies
- Receive and dispatch drivers in a timely manner
- Prepare, manifest, and dispatch outbound loads correctly
- Coordinate driver activity with the dock to ensure timely receiving of inbound loads
- Maintain organized filing system (electronic and paper)
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation
- Support general office and warehouse tasks as needed
Qualifications
- 2 years of general office experience required
- 1 year of customer service experience required
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Previous shipping/receiving clerk experience highly preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems highly preferred
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening
Physical requirements
- The associate will be required to: read; communicate verbally and/or in written form; remember and analyze certain information; and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be required to stand, walk, and sit
- The associate is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms
- The associate must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs/12kg
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 2pm - 10:30pm (OT and weekends as required by business need)
Pay
$20.00/hour + $1.00 shift differential = $21/hour
