Basic Qualifications

Demonstrated full spectrum leadership of a team and within a larger organization
Expertise in Transportation Industry and knowledge of requirements/limitations of each mode
Dangerous Goods Experience, to include regulatory knowledge in shipment of hazardous materials/dangerous goods shipping
Ability to work outside normal business hours and occasionally weekend / travel support for larger mission
Ability to obtain and maintain up to TS / SCI security clearance

Job Description

Our Waterton facility in Littleton, CO has an immediate opportunity for a Traffic Administration Manager to join our mission.
In this role, you will serve as the manager for ~10 employees to oversee shipping, packing/crating, distribution, and traffic administration missions, working in close coordination with LM Space Transportation, LMS Programs, commercial vendors, civilian and military airports, LM Space’s International Trade Compliance Office, and customers.
Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and federal and state regulatory requirements.

Weekly/Monthly Responsibilities

• Coordination with internal customers and Packaging Engineering group to establish pack and ship requirements to ensure shipments are protected during transit.
• Interface with leaders across Programs to ensure critical paths and schedules are met – use effective direct communication to understand requirements.
• Determine priority of work and apply resources (people, material, and equipment) to achieve results.
• Focus is on safe delivery as well as key performance indicator (KPI) for on-time delivery.
• Assess need for vendor transportation services vs. LM-owned transportation for over-the-road transports and recommend best option for cost, schedule and performance.
• Ensure the safe outcome of daily operations for team, equipment and cargo.
• Work environment includes power tools, MHE, tripping hazards, loading docks, trucks, and HazMat as cargo.
• Manage operating expenses within budget, to include labor costs and raw material costs.
• Provide basic HM/DG training to employees across the Space BA

Additional Duties

• Monitor carrier rates and charges and evaluates past performance and cost of transportation, and maintain audit-compliant systems (e.g. AS9100).

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of MILSPEC and ASTM packaging standards and materials.
• Knowledge of CTPAT Programs.
• Knowledge of International Shipping/Traffic requirements and Foreign Trade Zone management.
• Familiar with Hazardous Material Regulations (49CFR, IATA/ICAO, AFMAN).
• Knowledge of Freight Payment and Freight claim processes.
• Familiar with SAP.
• Familiar with material handling equipment (forklift, BigJoe) and woodshop power tools (table saws, drills, nail guns).
• Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
• Effective written communication skills.
• Ability to provide metric reports and complete special projects and assignments as needed.
• Knowledge of bargaining units and/or previous experience with represented employee population.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize a dynamic workload and reallocate resources to meet schedule demands.
• Experience with performing within an operations budget
