Shipping Lead

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Captures and schedules all outbound loads and collaborates with sales and production.
• Determines the correct loading sequence and placement of products.
• Validates shipping documents and notes any discrepancies.
• Configures all loads for shipment via common carriers with external freight companies.
• Determines and enforces proper routing of orders and communicates with carriers about delivery instructions to match customer receiving times.
• Affirms that all internal/external paperwork complies with UFP and DOT regulations and procedures.
• Documents any shortages on orders, investigates the causes, and informs sales and administration.
• Takes and implements actions on calls for tracing and/or expediting orders.
• Maintains accurate documentation and records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Prepares various reports and correspondence as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving or a related field.
• Working knowledge of standard DOT concepts, regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of proper loading techniques, weight limitations, and company procedures.
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species.
• Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process.
• Prior understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.
