Shipping Lead

Description

The shipping lead is essentially a team leader who oversees operations at the ground level, making sure that the rest of the team is accurately picking items for shipment to customers.

Requirements

• Coordinate Forklift Operators in daily routine of loading trailers according to SKNA’s standards and factory master
• Schedule deliveries in the most cost-efficient and time-saving manner possible, while still meeting customer requirements
• Review daily driver’s logs and document any discrepancies
• Become familiar with freight rates for inter-state and intra-state shipping
• Secure freight rates prior to shipping
• Accurately prepare bills of lading
• Review forklift inspection sheets daily and prepare maintenance work orders as necessary for repairs
• Career Development: Enroll and attend seminars and technical courses
• Communicate with appropriate supervisory personnel to avoid confusion or problems at shift changes
• Follow safety and health guidelines
• Drug Screening: Must pass a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Able to lift 25-50 lbs. on a consistent basis
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
• Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
• Able to write legibly in English
• Able to speak, read, and comprehend English
• Able to have a working telephone number on record with Human Resources, Shipping Superintendent, and Production Manager at all times
• Self-starter: Must initiate and then follow through to completion of assigned tasks
• Qualified Shipping Forklift Operator or Truck Driver
• 6 months’ experience as a Shipping Forklift Operator or Truck Driver
• Supervisory experience as a proven manager/lead of at least 5 people
