Description
The shipping lead is essentially a team leader who oversees operations at the ground level, making sure that the rest of the team is accurately picking items for shipment to customers.
Requirements
- Coordinate Forklift Operators in daily routine of loading trailers according to SKNA’s standards and factory master
- Schedule deliveries in the most cost-efficient and time-saving manner possible, while still meeting customer requirements
- Review daily driver’s logs and document any discrepancies
- Become familiar with freight rates for inter-state and intra-state shipping
- Secure freight rates prior to shipping
- Accurately prepare bills of lading
- Review forklift inspection sheets daily and prepare maintenance work orders as necessary for repairs
- Career Development: Enroll and attend seminars and technical courses
- Communicate with appropriate supervisory personnel to avoid confusion or problems at shift changes
- Follow safety and health guidelines
- Drug Screening: Must pass a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Able to lift 25-50 lbs. on a consistent basis
- Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
- Able to write legibly in English
- Able to speak, read, and comprehend English
- Able to have a working telephone number on record with Human Resources, Shipping Superintendent, and Production Manager at all times
- Self-starter: Must initiate and then follow through to completion of assigned tasks
- Qualified Shipping Forklift Operator or Truck Driver
- 6 months’ experience as a Shipping Forklift Operator or Truck Driver
- Supervisory experience as a proven manager/lead of at least 5 people
