About the Role
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
Responsibilities
- Load semi-trailers with crane and forklift, including step deck trailers, flat deck trailers, and containers.
- Prepare loads with crane and forklift.
- Use forklift to bring subframes in from outside, exposed to elements.
- Use crane to stage truck bodies for loads and prepare frames for loads.
- Climb up and down ladders often, reaching heights of 13’6” while using required PPE.
- Lift up to 100 pounds.
- Match sales orders to the Bill of Lading or Load sheet.
- Ensure loads are safe and secure.
- Keep shipping area and loading dock clean and free from hazards.
- Use forklift to stage smaller parts for loads and retrieve parts from other departments as needed.
- Inspect quality of orders being shipped prior to their departure.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of LN and Logistics software.
- Ability to pass forklift written and driving test.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and deal with standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, climb, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Frequently required to use fingers, hands, and arms to handle and reach.
- Must frequently lift and/or move 5-30 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ lbs.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to wear protective gear and work in a loud environment with flashing lights.
- Occasionally exposed to weather conditions such as precipitation, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
Work Environment
Climate-controlled work environment with regular exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and loud noises.
Schedule
4-on, 4-off schedule with 10-hour shifts, occasionally working up to 40+ hours/week as business demands.
