Shipping Clerk - Swing Shift - Vancouver, WA

About the role

Farwest Steel Corporation is seeking a candidate for a Shipping Department position. This role is available to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers. The position offers a competitive wage range of $20.50 to $24.50 per hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedules Company trucks
• Codifies in-bound carrier schedules
• Communicates truck arrival, order preparation, etc. with Warehouse personnel
• Prepares bill of ladings
• Handles secondary dispatch of drivers
• Communicates schedule and order issues to Sales department
• Prepares outbound material loads
• Collaborates with Operations staff to optimize shipping and inter-department efficiencies
• Aids in training staff as needed
• Takes an active role in various department and inter-department projects including process improvement

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Reliable, on-time availability
• An eye for detail and ability to multitask
• Minimum of 2 years in shipping department or related experience
• Proficiency with personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database, e-mail, and related software
• Previous customer service experience and knowledge of Lean and Kaizen principles preferred
