About the Role
This position is responsible for accurately billing out orders, ensuring drivers are checked in and released with appropriate paperwork, and assisting in shipping products.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all load documentation and diagrams are verified and accurate for billing purposes.
- Partner with supervisor and QA to assist with releasing loads.
- Generate bill of lading based on documentation and load diagrams.
- Complete load information on the appropriate forms and databases.
- Collect and print necessary papers for shipping and receiving.
- Collect information to produce reports and perform data entry.
- Ensure drivers have proper paperwork before load is released.
- Establish when pre-shipment is needed.
- Maintain information and communication regarding all trailer issues as well as shortage requests/releases.
- Notify shuttle drivers when trailers need to be pulled or placed at dock.
- Keep schedule and lot layout up to date.
- May schedule receiving and inbound appointments.
- Participate as a member of the team in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Attend appropriate team meetings and foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues.
- Identify areas lacking cohesiveness and work with the team to resolve issues.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Requirements
- Familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies).
- Ability to work on feet during shifts, including bending, squatting, stooping, working in elevated areas, climbing stairs and ladders.
- Ability to lift/move 3–20 pound bags of product at waist level.
- Ability to work in a cool, wet, and noisy environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as head covering, ear plugs, and skid-resistant steel-toe shoes.
- Must be able to pass company-issued forklift certification.
Qualifications
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Possess basic math skills.
- Ability to use a ten-key by touch.
- Proficient in the use of a computer, including spreadsheets.
- Prior experience with inventory and in a warehouse or food production environment is a plus.
- Military experience is valued and welcomed.
Schedule
Sun–Tue 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, Wed 6:00 AM–12:00 PM.
