Shipping Checker

Job Summary

Shipping Checker will perform the shipping and receiving activities for the Company Distribution Department. The person in this position is responsible for verifying that shipments are correct and free of defective merchandise and operates light and heavy equipment in order to fulfill assigned job duties.

Essential Functions

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Ensures orders ready for shipping are accurate; check for defective merchandise.
• Matches stock keeping unit (SKU) numbers to loads ready for shipment in order to verify quantity and type of merchandise.
• Loads/unloads merchandise to/from trailers.
• Maintains the work area in a safe and orderly manner by performing various maintenance duties such as picking up trash, sweeping, dusting, etc.
• Operates light and heavy-duty equipment and tools such as forklift, tugger, pallet jack, squeeze press, etc. to complete essential job functions.
• Perform light maintenance on department equipment as needed.
• Performs cycle count inventory.
