Position Summary
Based in Huntington Park, California, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk will perform essential job functions associated with ship heat treated parts under the direction of the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Maintains shipping and receiving area as needed.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks.
- Schedules truck shipments, UPS, and FedEx as needed.
- Interacts with customers as needed to clarify or communicate discrepancies and schedules.
- Inspects and records incoming and outgoing orders for count, damage, dates, etc.
- Bridges any irregularities or other discrepancies/concerns to supervisor immediately.
- Promotes and practices safety and good housekeeping.
- Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
Qualifications
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
- Education – High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year shipping experience required.
- Minimum one year experience in shipping applications/databases.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
Pay & Benefits Information
- The hourly pay for this position is $21.50 per hour.
- Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
- This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.
- This role is eligible for additional compensation, including shift differential, etc., if applicable.
