Shipping and Receiving Associate - 1st Shift

About the role

The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate and timely receipt and shipment of products while updating inventory records in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure receipt and unloading of incoming shipments of materials, supplies, parts, and products.
• Inspect and verify the accuracy of incoming shipments against purchase orders, invoices, and other documentation.
• Count and track received items, update inventory records, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Put away incoming materials, maintain inventory accuracy, and perform cycle counts.
• Prepare bills of lading and corroborate orders to ascertain quantities, destination, and routing.
• Ensure shipping items meet packing standards and requirements; document the finished process using photographs.
• Collaborate with other warehouse staff and departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and products, including loading trucks.
• Use hand scanners and computer software to record and track shipments and inventory data.
• Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to move and stack items in the warehouse.

Requirements

• Good verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with other team members.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines when using equipment to maintain a safe work environment.
• Ability to follow established procedures while performing tasks, using tools, and handling materials.
• Carefully consider and follow instructions to complete tasks and deliver required results.
• Reliability and consistency in attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned tasks with little supervision.
• Familiarity with computer systems and software, such as Microsoft Office and inventory management software.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Must be able to bend, twist, and reach while handling objects and using power and hand tools.
• Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, and objects weighing up to 80 lbs. occasionally, with the help of others.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Will be working in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions, dirt, and dust.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels due to the constant use of forklifts and hand-held power tools.
