Shipper/Receiver I

Responsibilities

• Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Manually lift and load materials onto trucks while verifying box or material counts.
• Compare identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Transfer materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
• Drive company vehicle and operate hydraulic lift and forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined part‑number sequence.
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to production workers or assembly line.
• Mark materials with identifying information.
• Open bales, crates, and other containers.
• Record amount of materials or items received or distributed.
• Weigh or count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Arrange stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.
• Accurately enter and record data using a computer.
• Complete requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.
• Prepare parcels for mailing.
• Maintain inventory records.
• Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select pre‑assembled containers.
• Insert items into containers.
• Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Computer experience.
• Valid forklift license required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Well organized.
• Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision.
• Ability to work flexible work hours.
