This position is a federal role within the Department of the Navy and is subject to specific conditions of employment.
Responsibilities
- Plan work assignments on an immediate and long-range basis in accordance with schedules of priorities established by higher-level management.
- Determine manpower, tooling, material availability, machine capabilities, and methods to be used.
- Analyze work schedules, assignments, production costs, and methods of operations to assign work to subordinate supervisors, ensuring balanced workload, meeting deadlines, increasing efficiency, and reducing costs.
- Ensure subordinate supervisors effectively carry out policies in labor management and equal employment opportunity.
- Participate with higher-level management in discussions on workload, budget, acquisition of plant and minor property, training, and other management-related areas.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Appointment of retired military members within 180 days of retirement to a civilian position is subject to provisions of 5 U.S. Code 3326.
- Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty; failure to do so may result in withdrawal of job offer or removal.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (e.g., helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, safety shoes) continuously during work shifts.
- Work is performed in areas with potentially harmful physical and chemical agents (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals). Participation in medical surveillance programs is required.
- May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
- Must review and adhere to the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- Subject to working an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime or night differential pay may be required.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must demonstrate through experience and training that you possess the necessary knowledge and skills. Emphasis is on the quality of experience, not its duration. Qualifications will be evaluated based on your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies in the following job elements:
- Ability to supervise through subordinate supervisors (screen-out element; applicants must score at least two points to be eligible).
