About the role
Ship Clerks play a crucial role in the Middle Mile network and are responsible for delivering our mission to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Ship Clerks manage daily department duties including planning loads around standard departure times, load flow control, and ensuring proper trailer utilization. They assign job duties, provide work direction, and communicate with internal and external partners.
Ship Clerks drive and execute standard work in areas impacting Safety, Quality, Productivity, Utilization, and On-time Performance. They support daily management of department duties such as load planning, load flow control, load quality, TDR, communicating with upstream and downstream partners, allocating labor, leading meetings, and assigning job duties. Ship Clerks escalate barriers to Operations Leaders and collaborate to mitigate issues impacting safety and performance.
Responsibilities
- Plan loads around standard departure times
- Control load flow and ensure proper trailer utilization
- Assign job duties and provide work direction
- Communicate with internal and external partners
- Execute standard work in Safety, Quality, Productivity, Utilization, and On-time Performance
- Support daily management of load planning, load flow control, and load quality
- Manage TDR (Trailer Dock Release) processes
- Communicate with upstream and downstream partners
- Allocate labor and lead meetings
- Escalate barriers to Operations Leaders and work to mitigate issues
Requirements
- 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Can lift up to 49 pounds
- Ability to stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours
- Frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Work 40 hours/week, with overtime as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Education beyond high school
- Prior experience managing employees
- Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal) with all levels of associates and management

Pay
Starting pay for this position is $24.00 - $25.50 USD hourly, including base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential depending on the shift selected. Additional earnings may include shift differentials and overtime pay.
