Job Summary

The Security Shift Supervisor will oversee the Security Department's operations, ensuring the safety and security of both employees and guests, and adhering to company policies, procedures, and controls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and security of Team Members and guests.
  • Supervise programs and processes to reduce and control loss time injuries.
  • Aid in the recruitment process, including job postings and recruiting metrics.
  • Delegate duties and assign responsibilities to staff.
  • Complete and process performance reviews.
  • Assist in the development of Team Members, conduct interviews, participate in the selection, hiring, coaching, retention, and termination processes.
  • Investigate incidents and/or guest complaints, compile data for accurate reporting.
  • Schedule rotation of officers throughout officer posts.
  • Conduct training with officers.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are being followed and monitored during the shift.
  • May be asked to operate a company vehicle and/or equipment requiring a valid Driver’s License.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated management abilities in managing security operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain interpersonal working relationships among all personnel.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Emergency Disaster Plan Manual.
  • Willingness to assume overall responsibility relative to the performance of the Security department.
  • Advanced customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Interact with local law enforcement agencies as required.
  • Knowledge of local jurisdiction gaming laws (federal, state, etc.) and regulations as well as company internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.

Education and Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience as a security officer/law enforcement officer. Prior Hotel/Casino Security is a plus.
  • 2-year degree in related fields or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, handling, feeling, finger reaching, handling, or feeling objects, tools, or controls.
  • Reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Talking or hearing.
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Subjected to circulation throughout the assigned areas, including the smoking area, actively observing players and functioning of machines.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
