Shift Supervisor - Plastic Injection Molding

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop production teams during assigned shifts; set clear expectations and maintain high team engagement and accountability.
  • Supervise day-to-day production operations, ensuring products are manufactured on schedule and meet quality standards.
  • Create and manage shift production schedules, coordinate staffing and coverage to meet demand and minimize downtime.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives at the shift level by identifying inefficiencies, leading root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions (Kaizen/PDCA).
  • Monitor and report operational performance metrics (OEE, yield, throughput, downtime) and take proactive actions to meet targets.
  • Ensure full compliance with GMP/GDP, company quality systems and regulatory requirements; support audits and maintain accurate production documentation.
  • Oversee safety management for the shift: enforce safety policies, lead safety briefings, investigate incidents and implement preventive measures.
  • Deliver training and coaching for operators on standard work, changeovers, quality checks, and safety practices; develop operator competency.
  • Cook up with maintenance, quality and engineering to resolve production issues and support equipment reliability.
  • Manage shift handovers, communicate priorities and escalate issues to production management as required.
  • Support continuous product and process validation activities and ensure proper record keeping and traceability per GMP/GDP standards.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on production experience in supervisory role or team lead role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in production supervision and production scheduling with strong organizational skills.
  • Proven track record driving Continuous Improvement activities; familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar methodologies preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP/GDP requirements and experience maintaining compliance in a regulated environment (medical device, pharmaceutical or related preferred).
  • Experience managing safety programs and promoting a strong safety culture on shift; relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA) a plus.
  • Experience training and coaching frontline staff, developing standard work and sustaining behavioral change.
  • Able to analyze and act on performance metrics (OEE, yield, throughput) to improve productivity and quality.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead diverse teams under shift conditions.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts or extended hours as required; reliable attendance and flexibility.
