Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operations during your shift, including cost controls, inventory, cash management, and customer relations.
  • Set the example for your team by adhering to all policies and procedures 100% of the time.
  • Manage staffing, paperwork, food preparation, scheduling, store cleanliness, and marketing efforts.
  • Maintain profitability, perfect store image, and high standards of customer service.
  • Ensure attendance, punctuality, and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Operate equipment, stock ingredients, process orders, and maintain cleanliness.
  • Train and orient new team members on the job.

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend and give clear written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong communication skills for processing orders over the phone and in person.
  • Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and making correct monetary change.
  • Motor coordination for rapid, precise movements, including typing on a keyboard or touch screen.
  • Navigational skills for reading maps and locating addresses within the delivery area.
  • Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings and private homes, while carrying product.

Work Conditions

  • Exposure to varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when performing outside tasks or deliveries.
  • In-store temperatures ranging from 36°F in coolers to 90°F or higher in work areas, with sudden temperature changes.
  • Exposure to food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped quarters, and hot surfaces/tools (ovens up to 500°F or higher).
  • Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts in the work environment.
  • Sensory requirements: verbal communication, near/mid-range vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
  • Far and night vision for driving tasks.
  • Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality control standards, and make judgments and decisions.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing: Most tasks are performed while standing on ceramic tile or linoleum surfaces, with work surfaces between 36" and 48" high.
  • Walking: Short distances for short durations, including between the store and delivery vehicle.
  • Sitting: Paperwork is completed at a desk or table.
  • Lifting: Unloading bulk deliveries (up to 50 lbs) using a hand truck, stacking cases onto shelves up to 72" high. Carrying large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz), pizza sauce (30 lbs), and trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray).
  • Pushing/Pulling: Moving trays on dollies (requiring up to 7.5 lbs of force).
  • Climbing: Navigating stairs or ladders for tasks like changing signs, washing walls, or performing maintenance. Delivery personnel may navigate five or more flights of stairs.
  • Stooping/Bending: Forward bending at the waist during pizza assembly, front counter tasks, and stocking ingredients.
  • Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally required for stocking shelves or cleaning low areas.
  • Reaching: Continuous reaching up, down, and forward for tasks like turning oven controls, scooping ingredients, or answering phones.
  • Driving: Delivering pizzas within a designated area, potentially making several deliveries per shift. Requires a valid driver's license, safe driving record, and access to an insured vehicle.
  • Hand Tasks: Eye-hand coordination for shaping dough, using a pizza peel, assembling boxes, and operating tools like the pizza cutter. Frequent and forceful use of forearms and wrists.

Tools and Equipment

  • Pencils/pens, computers, telephones, calculators, TDD equipment.
  • Pizza cutter, pizza peel, and other kitchen tools.

Delivery-Specific Duties

  • Deliver product by car and to the customer's door.
  • Distribute flyers and door hangers.
  • Requires a valid driver's license with a safe driving record and access to an insured vehicle for deliveries.

Pay

A full-time Shift Runner can gross between $40,000 to $50,000 a year, with opportunities to earn profit-sharing bonuses.
