About the Role

Maintains policies and programs to ensure the physical safety of the casino’s guests, employees, property, and assets. Ensures compliance with Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board security requirements and the casino’s internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Rivers Core Values at all times
  • Practice teamwork, support fellow Team Members, and create an energized, positive work atmosphere
  • Maintain grooming and uniform standards; overall appearance is to be immaculate and nametags are to be worn at all times
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests at all times
  • Be aware of and handle guest opportunities
  • Maintain daily log, i.e., time clocks, sign-in sheets when available
  • Function as a Security Shift Manager as a primary position and perform the duties of an E.M.R. when the need arises
  • Respond to and assist with emergencies, including but not limited to fires, medical, and criminal activity, in accordance with established procedures
  • Respond to disturbances in order to defuse the incident; be prepared to become involved in a physical confrontation when necessary
  • Always remain alert; observe, report, and take action with respect to all suspicious or unusual situations
  • Respond to suspicions of problem or underage gambling and alcohol or drug intoxication in accordance with established procedures and protocols
  • Comply with regulations on the handling of the deceased, protection of property and evidence at the scene, while awaiting additional EMS resources
  • Interview guests and Team Members when security incidents occur
  • Contact manager when security situations require intervention beyond scope of authority
  • Obtain assistance for accident victims
  • Write detailed security reports
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures for activities such as guest service standards, fire prevention, emergency response, guarding and patrolling the physical property, and investigation of accidents and criminal acts
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory controls both internal and external, including state and federal labor laws and Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board regulations and guidelines
  • Manage Security Officers, Security Officer-Class II, Senior Security Officers, Patrol Officers, and Supervisors; assist with guest interactions and transactions as needed
  • Develop criteria and suitability for future candidates
  • Confer with representatives of management to recommend policy changes, determine need for programs and training, and coordinate programs with the casino’s goals and regulatory requirements
  • Work with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of casino activities with law enforcement and firefighting agencies
  • Direct activities of workers involved in workplace safety programs
  • Review and approve all Security Officer performance
  • Hire, train, and manage staff in accordance with organizational and approved departmental policies, practices, and programs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Two or more years of previous experience in security or law enforcement
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Gaming leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge of state gaming regulations, safety and security practices, and protocols
  • Background and knowledge of security operations, Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) regulations, safety, investigation, and legal issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and motivation skills
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Excellent knowledge of various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Available to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licensing

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Regularly required to see, walk, talk, and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to work in a noisy and smoky environment
  • Must occasionally move and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Able to work with others while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor
