About the Role
The Cash Operations Shift Manager assists the Manager of Cash Operations in the successful operation of the cage at Newport Racing & Gaming, a gaming and entertainment facility featuring over 400 Vegas-style games, sports wagering, a restaurant, and simulcast.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, direct, supervise, and observe cage action to ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements, safeguarding the casino’s assets and funds.
- Stay knowledgeable of marketing promotions and gaming events.
- Provide guest service, manage relations, and arbitrate disputes to ensure a favorable gaming experience.
- Assign or adjust team member assignments on assigned shifts.
- Submit all necessary reports at the end of shifts for efficient department operation.
- Ensure the safety and security of team members and guests, facilitating programs to reduce lost-time injuries.
- Review staffing levels to maintain budgeted employment levels.
- Delegate authority and assign responsibilities.
- Develop team members through interviews, hiring, and evaluations.
- Assist the Cage Manager in preparing reports and handling administrative responsibilities.
- Review cage activities and promotions with the Manager of Cash Operations.
- Ensure required facilities and equipment are available, clean, and functioning properly.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels upward, downward, and laterally.
- Maintain updated knowledge of gaming laws, regulations, and internal controls applicable to areas of responsibility.
- Act as managerial representative on premises as needed.
- Meet with departmental directors and managers as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two to five years of experience in cage operations and supervision.
- A 2-year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Able to obtain a KY Racing License.
Skills
- Demonstrated management abilities in maintaining cage profitability.
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships among all personnel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to assume overall responsibility for cage performance.
