Shift Electrician

About the role
The Shift Electrician lays out, assembles, installs, maintains, repairs, and tests complex electrical and related equipment, including starters, electrical motors, switches, switchboards, and electrical circuits. This role involves both maintenance and construction work, with decision-making responsibilities in the absence of the Electrical Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and construction work as assigned by the supervisor.
- In the absence of the Electrical Supervisor, respond to orders from the Shift Engineer or requests from other departments, making minor decisions including job priority assignments.
- Plan and execute major and difficult installations using blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
- Install, connect, and repair complicated interlocks.
- Splice high-voltage wires and solder high-voltage connections.
- Instruct lower-level mechanics in proper performance of duties as needed.
- Contact the Shift Engineer for major decisions.
Requirements
- Four years of industrial electrical experience within a refinery.
- Experience with 480 Voltage or higher is required.
- PLC knowledge/experience is a plus.
- High school education or equivalent.
- NCCER Certification.
- Electrician License required.
Skills
- Expert knowledge of turbine and switchboard equipment and electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand principles of electricity, electrical equipment construction, and applicable codes.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in using electrician’s tools and shop equipment to install, connect, and repair electrical equipment.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, climb, crouch, kneel, carry, pull, push, and work on scaffolds or ladders safely.
- Ability to frequently lift materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Schedule
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Weekend shifts may be mandated based on business needs.
Pay
Starting hourly rate: $45.01.
