Sheriff’s Deputy - Full-Time (DCJS Certified)

About the role

The Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Office is seeking Virginia DCJS certified law enforcement officers for the position of full-time deputy. The primary duties include securing the courthouse and serving civil process, as well as prisoner transports. Secondary duties may involve routine law enforcement tasks.

Responsibilities

• Secure the courthouse and serve civil process
• Transport prisoners
• Perform routine law enforcement duties

Requirements

• 21 years of age by the completion of the law enforcement basic academy
• United States Citizen
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or GED
• No more than two moving violations in the last two years
• No convictions of DUI, eluding, or leaving the scene of an accident in the last 5 years
• No record of two or more DUI’s
• No Driver’s License revocation or suspension in the last 5 years
• No convictions, guilty or no contest pleas to a Class 1 or 2 misdemeanors involving moral turpitude
• No convictions, guilty or no contest pleas to any misdemeanor sex offense including sexual battery or consensual intercourse with a minor 15 or older
• No convictions, pleas of guilty or no contest to any offense of domestic battery
• Background investigation including fingerprint based criminal history records
• Physical examination before the conditional offer of employment
• Negative result on pre-employment drug screening

• Must be able to pass a polygraph
• Pass written exam and lawfit assessment

Pay

Starting salary: $57,150 - $61,440 (negotiable with experience)
