Responsibilities
- Evaluate applicants' knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment operation.
- Evaluate applicants' English language, grammar, and punctuation skills.
- Evaluate applicants' understanding of public relations principles.
- Evaluate applicants' ability to practice proper telephone etiquette.
- Evaluate applicants' proficiency in using computers and associated word processing, including data entry and record retrieval.
- Pass a written exam with a minimum score of 70%.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
- Two years of clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 45 net words per minute.
- Submit a copy of the typing or keyboard certificate, issued within the last two years, verifying a speed of 45 net words per minute.
- Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation.
Qualifications
- Valid government issued photograph identification is required for admission to the examination.
- Applicants who cannot present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.
- Appointees will be fingerprinted and required to pass a background investigation.
- Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post-offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
Benefits
- 5% additional pay for evening shift work.
- 7.5% additional pay for night shift work.
