Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatcher II
About the role
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatcher II to serve in the Public Safety Facility in Placerville, CA. This role involves serving communities through emergency and public utility call handling, radio operations, and communication with law enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate 911, emergency, and business calls, and other public utility service calls.
- Operate multi-channel radio systems, monitor other communication channels, and maintain radio traffic on main channels.
- Transfer calls to appropriate parties or create a law enforcement call for service.
- Operate computer equipment to access local, state, and federal criminal justice information systems.
- Operate communication systems to transmit and receive information with allied law enforcement agencies.
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from high school.
- One (1) year of emergency dispatching experience at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Sheriff’s Public Safety Dispatcher I.
- A Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Professional Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate is desirable.
Qualifications
Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
Skills
Knowledge of emergency dispatching procedures, familiarity with multi-channel radio systems, ability to operate computer equipment, and proficiency in communication systems.
