Shelter Support Specialist (afternoons including weekends)

Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain daily paperwork in accordance with procedure
- Ensure shelter policies are enforced without discrimination
- Assist with menu planning
- Supervise common areas, dorms, lounges, clothing closet, and laundry room
- De-escalate conflict and manage crises as necessary
- Perform daily resident/security checks on guests, rooms, and exterior of building
- Handle general office duties such as answering the phone, filing, typing, record keeping, and recording shift summaries
- Attend all trainings and staff meetings as directed
- Perform cleaning and janitorial work, including laundry as needed
- Keep dryer vents clear of dust and lint
- Accurately track resident medications
- Communicate shelter supply needs to maintenance or corps officer
- Deep clean the kitchen as needed
- Clean empty rooms once resident has exited
- Communicate shelter supply needs to maintenance or corps officer
- Resolve conflicts between residents
- Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities
- Handle donations as needed
- Ensure client chores are completed in a timely manner
- Process intake and exit paperwork as needed
- Help with shelter and social services laundry upon request
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED desired; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- 1 or more years working in a shelter type environment
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Safe from Harm guidelines and participate in training classes
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Have and maintain current CPR/SED/First Aid certification; or ability to gain certification within 90 days
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Have and maintain ServSafe Certification, or ability to acquire certification within 1 year
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Have and maintain current CPR/SED/First Aid certification; or ability to gain certification within 90 days
