Shelter Support Specialist (afternoons including weekends)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily paperwork in accordance with procedure
  • Enforce shelter policies without discrimination
  • Assist with menu planning
  • Supervise common areas, dorms, lounges, clothing closet, and laundry room
  • De-escalate conflict and manage crises as necessary
  • Perform daily resident/security checks on guests, rooms, and exterior of building
  • Handle general office duties such as answering the phone, filing, typing, record keeping, and recording shift summaries
  • Attend all trainings and staff meetings as directed
  • Perform cleaning and janitorial work as required, including laundry
  • Keep dryer vents clear of dust and lint
  • Accurately track resident medications under supervision
  • Communicate shelter supply needs to maintenance or corps officer
  • Deep clean the kitchen as needed
  • Clean empty rooms once resident has exited
  • Communicate shelter supply needs to maintenance or corps officer
  • Resolve conflicts between residents
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities

  • Handle donations as needed
  • Ensure client chores are completed in a timely manner
  • Process intake and exit paperwork as needed
  • Help with shelter and social services laundry upon request

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED desired; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • 1 or more years working in a shelter type environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Safe from Harm guidelines and participate in training classes

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Complete ServSafe Certification within 1 year
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
  • Complete Safe From Harm training and keep current as needed
  • Current CPR/SED/First Aid certification or ability to gain certification within 90 days
