About the role

The Shelter Supervisor is responsible for all supervisory responsibilities associated to front desk operations including shift scheduling, timecards, and payroll preparation, reporting sick and vacation, ensuring staff trainings as assigned, ensuring Standard Operating Procedures are followed, coordinating shift adjustments as needed in coordination with the Shelter Programs Director.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of the Off-Site Shelter Programs staff operational administration.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of emergency resources.
  • Aids in the monitoring, evaluation, and facilitation of changes in operational and administrative programs to ensure compliance with policy, contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Hires staff ensuring adequate coverage of permanent, temporary, and on-call shelter staff.
  • Provides direct supervision and training for staff assigned.
  • Attends and participates in all staff meetings.
  • Conducts and oversees direct client services.
  • Provides policy and procedure guidance to subordinate staff.
  • Supports residents experiencing personal crisis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in public contact/customer service.
  • Minimum of 1-year of relatable supervisory experience.
  • Skilled training in basic Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Health First Aid, and conflict resolution.
  • Four months successful experience as a Salvation Army Shelter Monitor (or related experience).
  • Washington State Driver's License required.

Qualifications

  • Must be available for in-person interviews in Seattle, WA.

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of emergency resources and protocols.
  • Experience with payroll and timecard management.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Basic Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Health First Aid, and conflict resolution skills.
