Shelter Supervisor - Harborview Hall
About the role
The Shelter Supervisor is responsible for all supervisory responsibilities associated to front desk operations including shift scheduling, timecards, and payroll preparation, reporting sick and vacation, ensuring staff trainings as assigned, and ensuring Standard Operating Procedures are followed. This position is under direct supervision of the Shelter Program Manager and cooperates with the Program Director and King County Shelter Director. This position receives daily supervision, with direct consultation available on complex matters. This position provides administrative support to the Department in addition to leading and assisting with the training and ongoing support of staff assigned.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates working knowledge of emergency resources.
- Affords assistance with the monitoring, evaluation, and facilitation of changes in operational and administrative programs to ensure compliance with policy, contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Affords assistance as needed in hiring, assuring adequate coverage of permanent, temporary, and on-call shelter staff.
- Provides direct supervision and training for staff assigned.
- Attends and participates in all staff meetings.
- Conducts and oversees direct client services.
- Provides policy and procedure guidance to subordinate staff.
- Provides supportive care to residents experiencing personal crisis.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1-year experience in public contact/customer service
- Minimum of 1-year of relatable supervisory experience
- Demonstrated skilled training in basic Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Health First Aide, and conflict resolution
- Four months successful experience as a Salvation Army Shelter Monitor (or related experience)
- Washington State Driver's License required

- Education: HS Diploma or GED
