Shelter Staff (On-Call)

About the role

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Shelter Staff on an on‑call basis. In this vital role you'll be responsible for ensuring the well‑being of shelter residents, overseeing daily operations, and providing a stable, welcoming space for both clients and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the facility
• Support clients through crisis intervention
• Employ trauma‑informed care and de‑escalation techniques
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the shelter
• Assist with meal setups
• Communicate critical information to leadership for effective follow‑up

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
• Experience working with homeless populations

Qualifications

Ability to handle dynamic, sometimes challenging environments with compassion and professionalism.

Skills

• Basic computer skills
• Strong communication abilities
• Physical capacity to perform light cleaning and maintenance tasks

Pay

Competitive base hourly rate of $25.68

Schedule

• On‑call staff are typically guaranteed at least one shift per month, with the possibility of additional shifts based on shelter needs (there may be times when no shifts are available)
• Available shifts:
  • Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
  • Swing Shift: 3:00 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.
  • Overnight Shift: 11:00 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
• Strong preference for candidates with consistent overnight availability
