Shelter Staff (Full-Time Day)
About the role
Join our Shelter Staff team and play a vital role in maintaining a secure and welcoming space for clients and volunteers. You will ensure the safety and well-being of shelter residents using crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation techniques. Ongoing professional development and training will be provided to support your growth in these areas.
In addition to client interaction, you will help manage daily shelter operations, including cleaning, organizing, and meal setups. Strong communication is key, as you will report observations and incidents to shelter leadership to ensure proper follow-up.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of shelter residents
- Utilize crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation techniques
- Assist clients with conflict resolution and daily shelter navigation
- Manage daily shelter operations (cleaning, organizing, meal setups)
- Report observations and incidents to shelter leadership
- Maintain a calm, structured environment for clients
Requirements
- Background in social work, psychology, human services, or related fields
- Experience working with homeless populations
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work independently
- Compassionate approach to working with diverse communities

Pay
Competitive base hourly wage of $24.61 to $25.68.
Schedule
Full-time day shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.) at our shelter in Kirkland, WA. Organizational needs may require shifts at a secondary location in Bellevue, WA.
A background check is required.
