Shelter Monitor

Essential Functions

• Affirm safety of residents in building and on grounds by actively observing and enforcing shelter policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Resolve problems between residents as appropriate.
• Complete pre-screening and intake processing for new individuals seeking admission to the emergency shelter.
• Add entries of incidents to the daily shelter log record.
• Sign and update previous entries at the beginning of each shift.
• Update and maintain current daily client lists on computer.
• Enter client data into the HMIS database when authorized and trained to do so.

Education And Experience

• High school/GED Certificate with one year work experience.
• Combination of training and work experience will be considered.
• Must be a team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making skills, independent and creative thinking, ability to work with a team.
• Supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission and policies.
• Must possess or obtain Adult and Child CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens certification within three months of employment.
• Complete HMIS training within three months of employment for select shifts.

Physical And Work Environment Requirements

• Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment to include: using a computer, answering phones, etc.
• Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
