Shelter Monitor

Essential Functions

• Affirm safety of residents in building and on grounds by actively observing and intervening.
• Enforce shelter policies, procedures, and guidelines consistently.
• Complete pre-screening and intake processing for new individuals seeking admission.
• Update and maintain daily client lists on computer.
• Conduct bed checks and security passes through the building hourly.
• Answer and distribute incoming calls and visitor messages.

Education And Experience

• High school/GED Certificate with one year work experience.
• Combination of training and work experience may be considered.
• Must be a team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making skills required.
• Supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission and policies.
• Requires a high level of confidentiality.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with diverse personalities essential.
• Ability to type and update spreadsheets necessary.
• Must possess or obtain Adult and Child CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens certification within three months of employment.
• Complete HMIS training within three months of employment for select shifts.

Pay

$16.00 per hour

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week

About the Role

The Salvation Army Columbia Corps seeks a Shelter Monitor to maintain shelter security, perform clerical duties, handle receptionist duties, and provide general assistance to guests and residents in the shelter.
