About the role
The Shelter Monitor oversees shelter operations during the overnight shift, ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of residents. This role supports The Salvation Army's mission by upholding shelter policies, providing guidance and supervision, and assisting residents with access to community resources.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the security and safety of residents, facilities, and grounds.
- Supervise residents to ensure order, harmony, and compliance with shelter rules.
- Share information on available community resources with residents.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, and residents.
- Assign and oversee resident cleaning chores.
- Reinforce shelter policies fairly, without discrimination or favoritism.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and contact supervisors as needed.
- Maintain professional boundaries with residents.
- Prepare meals as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in human services or working with diverse populations.
- Completion of required training within designated timeframes.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to prepare meals for groups of 30-40 people.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Pay
