Sheetmetal Journeyman

About the role

Polk Mechanical is seeking a Sheet Metal Journeyman responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and HVAC duct systems
• Operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch presses
• Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to specifications
• Use hand tools, power tools, air hammers, and welding equipment to assemble ductwork and components
• Install ductwork and sheet metal assemblies according to blueprints and specifications
• Install HVAC components such as air handlers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, and unit heaters
• Inspect and test installations to ensure conformance with project requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of verifiable sheet metal experience required
• Experience working in commercial or industrial HVAC environments
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and installation practices
• Trade certifications preferred
• Valid driver's license preferred

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings and sketches
