Sheet Metal Trainee
About the role
This is an entry-level position that assists experienced tradespeople in performing a variety of construction, assembly, installation, and maintenance tasks. The trainee supports daily job site operations by providing materials, tools, and labor assistance while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced workers with layout, assembly, installation, or fabrication tasks as directed.
- Load, transport, and supply materials, tools, and equipment to the job site or work area.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored.
- Help lift, position, dig, and secure materials or equipment safely during installation or construction.
- Perform other general labor or support duties as assigned by the Foreman or Journeyman.
Requirements
- Ability to follow specific directions and perform a variety of duties that may frequently change.
- Basic math, electrical and mechanical aptitude and ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
- GED or high school diploma preferred.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Minimum 18 years old.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to learn through on-the-job and classroom training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment.
- Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury.
