About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Sheet Metal Shop, located in Norfolk, Virginia. The hours are 0600-1445 Monday-Sunday, on the 1st shift, and does not require a security clearance.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, layout, fabricate, install, and repair sheet metal products related to shipboard construction HVAC and habitability. They will have an excellent knowledge of the various types of metals and sizes, as well as habitability layout and installation of metal joiner (MJ) bulkheads, MJ doors, berths, galleys, and office outfitting.
The candidate will operate press brake, hand brake, power rollers, hand rollers, and general sheet metal fabrication equipment. They will write WAFs and hot work tickets and perform trade quality assurance work, with little to no supervision.
Requirements
- Must meet all Journeyman 3 Sheetmetal Mechanic requirements
- Excellent knowledge of the various types of metals and sizes
- Excellent knowledge of Habitability layout and installation of metal joiner (MJ) bulkheads, MJ doors, berths, galleys, and office outfitting
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic with experience working with sheet metal products, HVAC, and habitability systems.
