About the role
Supports retrofit operations by performing sheet metal installation. When sheet metal work is not available, assists the team in other areas such as welding, pipe fitting, or related duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform sheet metal installation on retrofit jobs
- Provide sheet metal instruction to helpers as needed
- Assist team members with welding, pipe fitting, or other duties
- Interpret job-related drawings
- Maintain updated applicable certifications
- Attend industry training as required
- Travel to customer locations
- Work weekends and/or evenings when necessary
- Demonstrate and promote teamwork and cooperation
- Continuously improve processes and personal performance
- Provide responsive, professional, and diplomatic customer service
- Communicate with customers in a friendly and patient manner
- Address customer concerns promptly and escalate as needed
- Follow all company safety programs and report non-compliance
- Use proper PPE equipment at all times
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, and injuries immediately
- Complete monthly safety training topics on time
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 6 months to one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of trade school in welding or equivalent training
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass drug screening
- Ability to prove U.S. employment eligibility
Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write basic correspondence
- Basic math skills (addition and subtraction)
- Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions
- Problem-solving in standardized situations with concrete variables
Physical demands
- Regularly required to stand, use hands, talk, and hear
- Frequently required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally required to sit
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work environment
- Outdoors, mechanical/equipment rooms, and possible extreme weather conditions
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment
- Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
- Occasional exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat
- Loud noise levels
