Sheet Metal Mechanic

CCI Mechanical, LLC is expanding its workforce and is seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic focusing on HVAC ductwork installation and fabrication. This position involves installing, maintaining, and repairing ductwork systems to ensure proper airflow in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

About the role

This position will report to our office location in Holt, FL and surrounding areas. You will work with both sheet metal and flexible ductwork, ensuring optimal system performance and energy efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Installing ductwork according to blueprints, ensuring proper connections and minimizing air leaks.
• Inspecting and maintaining existing ductwork, identifying and repairing leaks, and ensuring optimal airflow.
• Fixing damaged or malfunctioning ductwork, including replacing sections or making adjustments as needed.
• Fabricating duct components, including cutting, bending, and joining sheet metal, often using specialized tools.
• Installing insulation around ductwork to prevent heat loss or gain, improving energy efficiency.
• Diagnosing issues with the ductwork system and implementing solutions to restore proper function.
• Using a variety of tools and equipment, including: shears, brakes, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, leak detection devices, and refrigerant recovery machines.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of construction experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork design, and installation techniques.
• Ability to work on a ladder or scissor lift.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to diagnose issues and find solutions.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand architectural and HVAC plans.
• Attention to detail, ensuring accurate measurements, connections, and sealing of ductwork.
• Customer service skills.

Qualifications

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.

• Ability to maneuver around work sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients.

• Walk or stand for prolonged periods of time; frequent movement and work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.).
• Walk over rough and uneven surfaces.
• Routine lifting of up to 35 pounds.
• Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including hard hats, steel-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection.
• Maintain a constant state of mental alertness.

Working Conditions

• Job is performed at outdoor site locations with exposure to heat, cold, and inclement weather.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
• May involve walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons, with potential exposure to wildlife.

Schedule

Normal work hours are 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, but these times may vary when the production schedule requires.
