Responsibilities

• Supervise the layout, assembly, and installation of various types and sizes of sheet metal duct
• Solve job-related problems and escalate as needed
• Manage inventory of materials
• Direct others on work activities and organize scheduling of resources
• Assess manpower and material needed for tasks
• Manage and direct crew sizes of 2 to 15 workers
• Plan tasks for crew and read blueprints and equipment packaging lists for assembly
• Solve simple job-related problems and present solutions to superintendent or project manager
• Coordinate and communicate with customers, owners’ reps, trade partners, and subcontractors
• Work with a variety of tools, large machines, and specialty equipment
• Support the Superintendent and Project Manager to complete projects on time
• Provide high-quality, productive work without constant reminders
• Follow, implement, and enforce all safety policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Company

Requirements

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, and some weekends)
• Must have reliable transportation and a reliable form of communication
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills
• Must arrive on time in appropriate attire and present professionally
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial mechanical sheet metal experience and 2 years of supervisor experience
• Basic technology skills
• Ability to clearly communicate with superintendents, general contractors, customers, design engineers, and other trades
• Must know and understand every aspect of HVAC and ductwork installation, including rectangular and round ductwork, fire dampers, smoke dampers, roof curbs, curb adapters, HVAC equipment, rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, and condensate drains
• Extensive knowledge of sheet metal installation, repairs, and the process for making and repairing sheet metal duct systems
• Must understand and be able to interpret product submittal data
• Must be able to read and interpret MEP plans
• Must be able to understand and use a ductulator
• Must have general knowledge of ductwork airflow and static pressure
• Must be able to draw and lay out sheet metal ductwork
• Must understand or be able to reference SMACNA duct construction standards
• General knowledge of applicable codes and practices, including local codes and standards

Physical Demands

• Occasional sitting; frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing
• Constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping
• Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to talk and hear
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Material handling: lifting from floor level to overhead, with occasional lifting up to 115 lbs., frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and constant lifting up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent work experience
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug test

Work Environment

• Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity levels, and atmospheric conditions
• Exposure to electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and proximity to moving mechanical parts
