Sheet Metal Foreman

Job Summary Review all project documents to understand the full scope of sheet metal and ductwork contracts. Plan and execute all fabrication, installation, and testing of ductwork systems per project specifications. Maintain and adhere to all project requirements directed by PM regarding schedule, budget, safety, and system performance standards. Plan all manpower, material deliveries, and equipment needs for duct fabrication and installation. Coordinate ductwork with other trades and ensure proper sequencing for mechanical systems. Build positive relationships with customers and business associates. Job Responsibilities Daily: Communicate daily goals and ductwork tasks to crew membersConduct Flex & Stretch with all crew membersReview drawings, specifications, and duct designs for the day's workInspect materials (sheet metal, insulation, sealants) for quality and specificationsSupply all tools and equipment necessary to complete daily ductwork tasksWork with Field Operations and PM in selection of manpower for sheet metal workMonitor ductwork quality, sealing, and installation workmanshipInspect duct connections, hangers, and support systems for complianceResolve any field and shop issues (including fabrication discrepancies)Schedule material and equipment deliveries as neededIdentify and address any safety issues in work areasComplete Safety Observations as requiredCoordinate with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural tradesDocument any rework, changes, or deviations from specifications Weekly: Complete 3-week look ahead schedules for duct fabrication and installation phasesConduct weekly toolbox talks focused on ductwork safety and quality standardsReview duct installation progress against scheduleUpdate as-built drawings with actual duct routing and connectionsVerify material deliveries and inventory for upcoming workTurn in hours-time through Crew Connect dailyAttend project coordination meetings and communicate ductwork status Review any change orders or specification clarifications with PM Monthly: Review overall job plan and revisions as neededReview material delivery schedules and adjust based on installation progressAssess crew performance, skill development, and training needsReview quality control reports and rework costsReconcile labor hours with production and schedule Annually: Review of previous year's project performance and ductwork quality metricsReview previous year's safety performance and incident reportsSet and define goals for upcoming year (quality targets, efficiency, certifications)Complete all continuing education as required by collective bargaining agreement and McKenney's Basic Qualifications Education and Experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High school diploma or GEDAt least 5 years’ experience in sheet metal/ductwork industry OR completion of JATC apprenticeship program with at least 2 years’ experience in leadership/foreman's roleOSHA 30 certificationProficiency reading and interpreting blueprints and ductwork specificationsKnowledge of SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association) standardsComputer literate (CAD familiarity a plus)Ability to multi-taskExcellent communication skillsWell organized, problem solverAbility to make key personnel decisions without influence of personal feelingsTrustworthy, dedicated to serving project needsGood positive attitude every dayWillingness to work long hours if neededStrive for improvements in every aspect Preferred Requirements Everything listed under RequiredProject management experienceCollege degree in HVAC, mechanical engineering, or sheet metal tradesUA 40-hour Foreman CertificationSheet metal industry certifications (HVAC, ductwork installation, welding, brazing, med-gas)SMACNA certification or trainingEPA Section 608 Certification (refrigerant handling) Willing to travel out of townProfessional appearanceExperience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) coordination Moving Safety Forward, our initiative for continuous improvements in our safety culture, reminds us that we are on a journey toward a zero-incident culture.
