About the role

The SHE Adviser will provide support and assistance to the Head of SHE to ensure that all Oregon Health & Safety standards are being achieved on our construction sites. Key responsibilities include conducting site audits, preparing audit reports, inducting new starters, checking qualifications, carrying out training and toolbox talks, completing accident investigation reports, preparing and altering Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS), and assisting with Health and Safety within any of the Oregon Timber Frame factories.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site audits to monitor Health & Safety standards on each site, identify breaches, and prepare a list of improvement actions.
  • Prepare audit reports and monitor completion of required improvement actions.
  • Induct new starters in the "Oregon Way" to ensure they understand risks, methods, and standards.
  • Check the qualifications of erectors on site to ensure they meet or exceed minimum standards.
  • Carry out training and toolbox talks to educate erectors.
  • Complete accident investigation reports.
  • Prepare and alter RAMS on behalf of the Head of SHE.
  • Aid the Head of SHE as required with other documentation, administration, training, and projects.

Requirements

  • Able to demonstrate education to a good standard – preferably to higher education or above.
  • Membership of IOSH and NEBOSH Construction certified (minimum).
  • Current driving license and use of a personal car for work-related usage.
  • Self-motivated and positive attitude.
  • Highly numerate and literate.
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and any other software required for the role, e.g., iAuditor and SharePoint.
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal with site erect teams, colleagues, senior management, and customers.
  • Able and willing to work flexibly to suit the needs and demands of the role.

Qualifications

  • Membership of IOSH.
  • NEBOSH Construction certificate.
  • CSCS card – professional level.

Skills

  • Able to demonstrate education to a good standard – preferably to higher education or above.
  • Membership of IOSH.
  • NEBOSH Construction certified (minimum).
  • Strong working knowledge of joinery and timber frame erect sequences.
  • Experience of supervising or managing people.
  • A sound appreciation of Health & Safety practices on site (e.g., risk assessments, accident investigations, induction, and training).
  • Awareness of working with cranes to erect timber frame kits.
