Shari VanDelinder Endowed Fellowship
About the fellowship
This fellowship was established to support graduate students pursuing an area of study/research in autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) or Alzheimer's. Always mindful of lives with needs, Shari VanDelinder donated her organs so others could live on. Those recipients received a gift from an intelligent, beautiful, dynamic, generous source of life. She was always passionate about helping people. As a child, her parents would have to check the closets to see if she was harboring a friend who was having trouble at home. As an adult, she made it possible for many students to attend college by gathering donations for college scholarships. Shari was very passionate about people struggling with all forms of neurodevelopmental disabilities. Knowing family and friends who themselves had been touched by these issues, Shari became especially passionate about autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) or Alzheimer's. Shari VanDelinder Endowed Fellowship has been established to further research and knowledge in these areas.
Eligibility
- Recipients shall be pursuing a graduate degree at Michigan State University
- Area of study/research must be in autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) or Alzheimer's
Award details
- Based on the number of applications, multiple awards may be made during each application period
- The funds will be awarded as a fellowship split between Fall and Spring Semesters
- Students must be enrolled in the semester in which they receive the funding
- The awardees will express acceptance and appreciation of the award in writing to donors within two weeks of notification in order to receiving the funding
- Recipients will be selected annually
