The Sigur Center is pleased to offer a grant for the study of any Asian language in a relevant country or equivalent program. Preference will be given to study conducted in the relevant country of the language, and applicants must confirm acceptance into a language program before departure. Language programs must be at least 8 weeks long.
Eligibility
- Open to all GW B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. students regardless of nationality.
- Preference given to applicants who must pass a language proficiency exam to complete their degree requirements.
- Applicants may apply to only one type of grant.
- If participating in an internship over the summer, it must be completed either before or after the language program.
Special Funding Note
The Sigur Center has substantial funding specifically dedicated to sending students to study Chinese in Taiwan. Applicants interested in studying Chinese abroad are strongly encouraged to apply for a program in Taiwan. Students may apply to both Sigur and Taiwan Education and Research Program awards but will only be awarded one grant.
Requirements for Grantees
- Submit four blog posts (two written and two video posts) throughout the course of the program.
