About the Role
Volunteer opportunities are available year-round and seasonally to support various community programs, including food pantry stocking, meal preparation, hygiene kit assembly, and donation drives.
Responsibilities
- Stock food pantry shelves with canned goods, non-perishable items, and desserts.
- Prepare non-cooking lunch bags containing sandwiches, chips, soda, yogurt, juice, and pudding for same-day distribution to homeless individuals.
- Assemble hygiene kits with new, travel-sized items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, razors, and deodorant.
- Organize and distribute baby care products, including diapers, formula, bottles, and baby food (new items only).
- Collect and distribute cold weather clothing, such as hats, socks, shoes, scarves, coats, and blankets.
- Support the School Readiness Program by organizing school supplies and backpacks.
- Assist with the Thanksgiving Food Drive by collecting non-perishable food items, gift cards to grocery stores, and frozen poultry or ham.
- Participate in the Adopt a Family Program by collecting gift cards, toys for children ages 2-17, cold weather clothing, and family games.
- Attend a pre-event huddle to review details, assignments, and timelines for the day.
Requirements
- Volunteers must be at least 12 years old.
- Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (18+) at all times.
- One adult chaperone is required for every 5 volunteers under the age of 18.
- Volunteers under 18 and their chaperones must work together on the same task during the event.
- Chaperones are responsible for monitoring volunteers under 18 throughout the event.
No prior orientation is required for community event volunteers, but additional training will be provided as necessary.
