SFM Mobile Maintenance Mechanic - Lead
About the role
The Mobile Maintenance Mechanic role is based at the Pogo operation in Alaska, part of Northern Star Resources Limited. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity with permanent employment and an extended mine-life.
Responsibilities
- Undertake diagnostic, breakdowns, follow-up work, PM's to a high standard of execution
- All maintenance activities undertaken are to be done in a timely and cost-effective manner while adhering to Company standards, policies and procedures
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and contractors
- Provide technical advice and support to fellow Maintenance Team members
- Ensures workmanship through meeting standards and tolerances and testing of equipment prior to handover
- Identify correct parts and equipment for all planned and unplanned jobs as necessary
- Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement
Requirements
- 2-5 years practical experience as a mechanical tradesperson in heavy mining application
- Excellent fault-finding skill and ability to carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance
- Computer literacy - Microsoft Office, Pronto or similar CMMS
- Good communication skills
- Must have good comprehension of safe operating procedures, safety rules, policies, emergency procedures, and MSHA requirements
Qualifications
The role requires a high level of self-motivation and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Candidates must also be able to adapt to remote working conditions and handle the physical demands of the job.

Schedule
The role involves a 4 week on, 2 week off rotating schedule of days and nights, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
Details
Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. The role offers a vibrant hub of activity on site, with the ability to be part of a successful and productive team.
