SFDK Fall Event Attendant $16.90/HR

About the role

Discovery Kingdom is hiring attendants for two seasonal events:

• Oktoberfest Attendants – Team members roam the event area and assist talent as needed. They report directly to the Oktoberfest Stage Manager.
• Tricks N Treats Door Activators – Team members are stationed at themed doors where children come to knock. They distribute candy and restock their candy supply as needed throughout the event. They report directly to the Tricks N Treats Stage Manager.

Responsibilities

• Entertain park Guests in a professional manner and ensure a positive experience for every Guest.
• Control crowds and interact with Guests in a supportive and understanding role.
• Maintain and clean Stadiums, Show Venues, and Backstage areas.
• Work Private Events or Shows as assigned.
• Ensure the safety of Guests, animals, and performers.
• Maintain “show illusion” and belief of character at all times for our Guests.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• The ability to confidently perform and speak in front of a large crowd.
• Skills to improvise interactions with Guests and licensed characters.
• Strong interpersonal communication.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.

Physical Requirements

• Constantly standing, talking, climbing, walking, reaching, using finger movement, grasping, feeling, speaking clearly, hearing conversation, using hearing acuity, seeing near and far, stooping, bending, kneeling.
• Working in extreme heat, sun, cold, wetness, humidity, and temperature changes.
• Must be able to carry 5 to 10 lbs.
• All lifts over 51 lbs. require help from a coworker or mechanical device.
• Overtime may be required from time to time to accommodate business needs.

Duties

• Crowd control at Show Venues and Stadiums.
• Cleaning and maintenance of Show Venues and Stadiums.
• Greeting and directing Guests at shows.
• Interacting with Guests at Show Venues and Stadiums through games and crowd work.
• Assisting Guests by providing expert park knowledge.
